It\'s back to Vegas for Third Town, whose creepy version of "Elvira" last week didn\'t impress the judges or America, and got them voted off during this weeks Nashville Star. The surprise of the night came as Melissa Lawson, who blew away the judges last week with her performance of "Something to Talk About," ended up in second-to-last place after the fan vote. Last night\'s round failed to produce any real standout performances, though there were some contestants who showed great improvement over the week before. Beauty queen Alyson Gilbert, who was in the bottom two last week, toned down her performance enough win praise from the judges. Judge favorite Gabe Garcia was a bit flat, and fellow Lone Star native, judge John Rich, told him he needed to "turn the Texas on." Ashlee Hewitt\'s gutsy song choice of "Ring of Fire" got her the highest praise of the night, while pretty boy Justin Gaston\'s rendition of the Plain White T\'s "Hey There Delilah" left the judges wondering how he made it into the competition.
Next week the contestants, pull out their favorite pop songs as they continue their quest to become the next Nashville Star.
John Rich says there are two stand-out contestants -- Gabe Garcia and Melissa Lawson. John told us, "Gabe Garcia is such a good country singer. That kid doesn\'t miss a lick. Melissa -- I call her big-mama. She\'s really got a shot. She\'s such a powerful singer." Though the judges may have their favorites, the fans will ultimately pick the next Nashville Star. |
